Eligibility:
If you have served at least one day of active military duty since December 7, 1941 and were honorably discharged or you are still serving active military duty honorably, you are eligible for membership with The American Legion.

- Active Duty Service:
- Individuals must have served on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces since December 7, 1941 (the date of the attack on Pearl Harbor). This includes service during World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Persian Gulf War, and subsequent conflicts.
- Honorable Discharge:
- A discharge under honorable conditions or an honorable discharge is required for eligibility.
- Current Service:
- Individuals currently serving on active duty are also eligible for membership.
- Verify Eligibility: Determine if your military service meets the eligibility criteria.
- Locate a Post: American Legion Post 15, Sumter SC
- Complete Application: Fill out the American Legion membership application form, providing necessary information about your service and eligibility.
- Submit Documentation: Provide copies of your DD-214 (discharge papers) or other acceptable documentation to verify your eligibility.
- Pay Dues: Pay the annual membership dues $60.00
- Participate: Attend meetings, participate in events, and engage with fellow veterans at your local post.
