American Legion Auxiliary Unit 15

Unit President’s Theme: “A Loving Sisterhood For Veterans”

Greetings, Ladies,

We had a fun time manning the Sumter county Fair booths. Thank you for your service. Our three newest members worked also in the booths and we gained a new member from our service there. Thanks to the Legion for allowing us to operate the Information Booth again.

If you have not paid your yearly dues yet, please send Sr. dues of $25 or Jr. dues of $5 to ALA, Unit 15 at P.O. Box 2174, Sumter, S.C. 29151. Call Carolyn Hudson with any other membership questions. Please help us identify Blue Star Mothers in our Unit by supplying us with names. A Blue Star mother is the mother of a son or daughter who has served or is serving in the military in any branch of the service. Call Shirley Osborne or me with names.

The Zone 4 Meeting will be held inn Camden on November 5, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. with Nancy Jordan in charge. Please plan to go if possible and contact Nancy Jordan for directions to the post if needed..

It is time to prepare for the Dorn VA Christmas gift shop. If you have gifts to donate or Christmas wrapping supplies, please bring them to the November 6 meeting. If you want to help with the gift shop, we will go on Tuesday, December 6, 2012 for the day. Please let me know if you are interested in going so that we can arrange for car pools. Chemo caps and chemo pads are needed for Dorn VA Hospital in Columbia. Please call Ann Edwards to offer your assistance. If you can crochet, knit, or sew items that can be given to the VA Christmas Gift Shop or hospital/ nursing home VA patients please let Ann Edwards, VA&R Chairman know (803-481-0399).

It is with sadness that I announce the passing of Sallie Whitas in September.
