Auxiliary Unit 15
Hello ALA Unit 15 Ladies!
The Auxiliary meeting will be
held April 5th, Monday, and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. Nancy
Jordan will present the program on Children & Youth. Vice President
Nancy Webster will preside at the April meeting in my absence.
Unit 15 is sponsoring a “Care
Package” for one of our member’s husband who is deployed overseas.
Please bring something to the meeting that you would like to include
in the package.
All Committee Chairmen need to
please check their Plans of Work to ensure that their committee
reports are done & submitted before the due dates. Copies are also
needed to be kept for Unit’s records. Thanks to those for
volunteering to be Chairmen & all their hard work!
Members please start gathering all your
community service information, compile it, and bring it to the May 5th
ALA meeting to be turned in. If you cannot bring in your list to the
meeting please mail it in to the Unit’s P.O. Box by May 1st. Some
community service would include: the hours spent supporting our
troops; hours spent volunteering in local communities cleaning up
and beautification; donations and hours spent helping food pantries
and food drives, homeless shelters, domestic violence centers,
schools, nursing homes, VA hospital, hospital, senior citizens
centers, donate books and time to libraries, Habitat for Humanity,
Adopt a Highway, blood donation, and recycling.
Sara Jernigan, Scholarship
Chairman, and Shirley Patterson, ask that Junior member scholarship
nominees please submit their paperwork now.
Mark your calendars to help
with Poppies May 14-15. Nancy Webster, Chairman, really needs your
help, 803-236-1399. Please help by signing up for a couple of hours.
All proceeds go to the Veterans Affairs and Rehabilitation (VA&R)
fund.
Don’t forget to bring in your
clipped coupons and soup can labels for education.
Canned goods will again be
collected at the monthly meeting for the Christian Charities.
More volunteers are needed at
the Sumter Veterans Clinic. The hours are Monday through Friday,
8-12 only 4 hours a day. If interested please call Fay Cook,
775-5768.
